I am sorry to sound so mechanically challenged – and the truth is that I am – but why cannot car manufacturers make things easier to find and use? I have a particularly gadgety car and I am hard placed to find out how to adjust the windscreen let alone find your car battery.
I know that some purchasers prefer their cars with all the knobs, handles and gadgets, but really, is there any need to go over the top? I consider myself a pretty intelligent person but you need a degree in mechanical engineering to use some of the cars on the market today.
For a start, the LCD screen is so complex that I don't know if I am listening to music, following the M2 or programming the GPS. What about the days when we had a radio and tape player in the car? So many wires and electrical circuits too – if you ask me that is just a recipe for more things to go wrong and break down in the car.
And the beeper thing that warns me when I reverse too close to another car. In theory very useful but in practicality it leaves me a nervous wreck.
Maybe I am just not cut out for a technologically advanced car. It would be better if I admitted defeat and sold up, because that thing sure has me beat.
